Niagara Falls – Ontario, Canada

Traveling on business in the Toronto / Buffalo area allows me to visit Niagara Falls on a regular basis.  This is one of the most amazing natural features that is a must see if you are in the area.  I have been here many times and this day the weather and sky was perfect for some pictures.   On this day my visit to the falls was a quick 20 minute walk and then off to my next meeting.

Niagara Falls is a world-famous set of waterfalls located on the Niagara River, which forms the border between the United States and Canada. The falls are made up of three different waterfalls: Horseshoe Falls (the largest and most famous), American Falls, and Bridal Veil Falls.

The history of Niagara Falls dates back thousands of years, when the area was inhabited by various Native American tribes. The falls themselves were created during the last Ice Age, when massive glaciers carved out the Niagara River gorge.

In the 17th and 18th centuries, European explorers and traders began to visit the Niagara region, and the area became an important center of trade and commerce. By the 19th century, the falls had become a major tourist attraction, drawing visitors from around the world who were captivated by their natural beauty.

In the late 19th and early 20th centuries, Niagara Falls also became an important source of hydroelectric power, with numerous power plants and generating stations built along the river. Today, the falls are a major source of hydroelectric power for both the United States and Canada.

Over the years, Niagara Falls has been the site of several stunts and daredevil acts, including tightrope walks and barrel rides over the falls. Some of the most famous stunts include Annie Edson Taylor’s 1901 barrel ride and Nik Wallenda’s 2012 tightrope walk across the falls.

Today, Niagara Falls is one of the most popular tourist destinations in North America, drawing millions of visitors each year who come to marvel at the falls, explore the surrounding area, and take part in a range of activities and attractions.
