Banff is one of the most beautiful places I have had the pleasure of visiting several times over the last twenty years. This time was was able to import my my wife with me for a few days. This is what we saw.
Banff National Park is about 1.5 hours north of Calgary Alberta, Canada. Banff National Park joins three other spectacular National Parks, Yoho, Kootenay and Jasper. Glacier National Park of Canada is also close by.
With only two and a half days we had to move fast. Can’t wait for the opportunity for another visit to mozy our way through all three parks.
Day 1 - Sulfur Mountain Gondola / Banff Town Tour
As part of the conference I was attending we had the opportunity to visit Banff for the afternoon and early evening. The weather was perfect and the views were spectacular. My work colleague and I had time to visit the top of Sulfur Mountain via the gondola and a brisk walk around the town for pictures and site seeing.
After returning from Sulfur Mountain we had a quick walk around the city to see some of the other sites.
Krista arrives in Calgary
Krista arrived late on Thursday night and so did the rain and fog. We got an early start and headed straight to the Columbia Icefields Disconvery Center about 3.5 hours drive.
The drive back to Banff was filled with stops along the way including views Bridal Veil Falls, Weeping Wall, and several other stops.
Day 2 - Lake Louise
We woke to about 1.5″ of snow on the ground. While the snow added to the scenery is also contributed to rain and fog the remained of the day. Lake Louise is one of the most picturesque places in the world what we were about to see was not optimal.
Day 3 - Heading Out
Our flight was around 4:00 PM and the airport was about two hours drive from Banff. We woke before the sunrise to get a bit more sit seeing before heading to the Airport.
