ANZA-BORREGO STATE PARK
I found Anza-Borrego State Park on a business traveling from Los Angeles to Brawley, California. Borrego Springs is about three hours southeast of LAX and about two hours northeast of San Diego. On this day I was driving from LAX and made my way to Borrego Springs on Montezuma Valley Road which approaches from the west. The first sight of Borrego Springs was from a vista high above the city and Anza-Borrego State Park
I arrived about 1.5 hours before sunset so I had to hurry to get a chance to see some of the sites around the area. I made a stop at the Anza-Borrego State park which was already and then made a quick drive through the camp ground to see if there were any trails to use on my morning run.
I found a hotel in Borrego Springs that had a old town western theme. The hotel was a little pricy but was clean and quiet.
One of the best things about traveling west is I was up long before sunrise ready for a morning run. Today I would get to explore some of the Anza-Borrego State Park before sunrise.
After my run a quick shower and off to Brawley for customer meetings. This was the beginning of a long road trip that would be more than 1000 miles in the next couple of days. In the end I would end in San Francisco.
For some reason, I love the desert and see this area as a place to go back to and explore more in the future. There are opportinites for hiking, running, off road riding and more.
